Coming as a surprise collaboration and released only a few days after the announcement of the second leg of the It’s All A Blur Tour, Drake and J. Cole mark their fourth-ever collaboration with “Evil Ways,“ the first being “In The Morning” (November 2010), “Jodeci Freestyle” (June 2013), and the highly-anticipated “First Person Shooter” (October 2023), which had its music video released only a few days prior. The song samples from The Family Circle’s track “Change” on their 1973 self-titled LP. The song’s one and only verse sees Drake and Cole move back and forth with their raps, exploring topics such as their joint dislike for the brand Adidas, their rise to stardom, and current success now in today’s rap game as “older” rappers.
