Drum Island is Torbjørn Brundtland (Röyksopp), Svein Berge (Röyksopp), Ole Johan Mjøs, and Rune Lindbæk. Their only release is a self-titled album released in 1997, along with 2 singles. After their self-titled album released on November 17th, 1997, three members of the group (Torbjørn Brundtland, Svein Berge, and Ole Johan Mjøs), along with disk-jockey Bjørn Torske would perform live as a quartet throughout mid-1998 to mid-1999. Throughout this short era, Brundtland and Berge performed various tracks which remain live-exclusive to this particular era and never saw a formal release ("The Eternal Sami" and "Warriors").

Ole Johan Mjøs left the quartet sometime after May 1999 and was later replaced with bassist Ole Vegard Skauge; this formation with the three remaining members performed live until sometime after February 2000, and the two remaining individuals of Drum Island (being Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge) would metamorphose into the Norwegian electronica duo Röyksopp.
