“Riot!,” the closing track of Some Rap Songs, is entirely instrumental, notably sampling a song of the same name by South African jazz legend, and close friend of his father, Hugh Masekela, from Masekela’s 1969 vinyl release Mace And Grenades / Riot.

A snippet of the track was previewed on Earl’s Instagram as promo leading to the album release.

Hugh Masekela’s music has made several appearances in Earl’s work, particularly in “Earl Sweatshirt Stays Inside” with Red Bull Radio. Masekela passed away in January 2018, only a few weeks after Earl’s father.

Here’s a full list of songs used;
- Hush (Shoutout to the Olympics);
- Been Such A Long Time (Planet 2 Planet);
- Nye Tamo Ame (Curb Servin’);
- Gold (March Madness).

A section of this instrumental was used in his 2015 track/project “Solace.”

The song was also played as the intro to his set at Camp Flog Gnaw on November 11th, 2018 prior to it’s release.
