On “holy terrain”, FKA twigs is searching for a lover who would treat her how she deserves to be loved. In search of a man who can hold his own and exude strength and confidence, FKA twigs is willing to give her all to ensure that her desire can be fulfilled.
“holy terrain” is assisted by Future, which marks the first collaboration between the two artists. In his verse, Future plays the role of FKA twigs' potential lover, a broken man who is attempting to fix himself and right his wrongs to deem himself worthy of twigs' love. The song also boasts production credits from Skrillex and Jack Antonoff.
FKA twigs teased the track on her social media on September 7, 2019, and the music video was released two days later. However, she did perform it live at her "MAGDALENE" show May 28, 2019 in London, which showcased plenty of unreleased material including various songs off of "MAGDALENE".
