“mirrored heart” is a song of self-reflection and introspection. On it, FKA twigs reminisces about her previous relationships and questions the legitimacy of her romantic history.
twigs believes that the perfect partner should reflect “who you aspire to be and, like, can mirror.” In “mirrored heart”, she navigates going through a period of “intense heartbreak”, and is cold in her loneliness.
On the 1 year anniversary of "MAGDALENE", twigs described the color palette for “mirrored heart” on her Instagram AMA:
"'rust on iron, oxidized copper swirling, smudged mascara black and the silver of the apple the back of a mac.'"
