Biography
"With a voice as powerful, rich, and harmonious as the BC land it is from," Flora gives it to you straight from her soul. Not fitting neatly into any one genre, Flora is part jazz diva, part folk singer, part cabaret performer. Her songs are lyrically mature and she performs with what CBC's Paul Grant calls a "sensuous voice and keen sense of musical adventure."
Described as both a “little-known vocal treasure” and “one of the rising jazz talents” in BC, Flora is ready to step into a bigger spotlight. Her new CD “Insight” has been met with enthusiastic appreciation from fans new and old. Co-produced by Rick Kilburn and Peter Berring, “Insight” appeals to a wide audience with its groovy mix of standards and original music influenced by Latin jazz, and Soul/R&B.
Nominated for Best Jazz Artist of the Year in 2008 by the BC Interior Music Awards, she more recently received a GrIndie Award from RadioIndy.com
