A band stuck in the aesthetics of the 80s trying to recreate the sound of the 70s but ultimately falling to the MOR of the 90s. TLDR: it's crap.

Mixed feelings. The title track is brilliant rock, and approaching a much heavier sound on the guitars. Some other really good songs on this too, but it sounds tired as it draws out. And it sounds like Tony is playing the same keyboard sound on almost every track. A far cry from even something like Duke which had all sorts of different pianos organs and electronics. Let alone the Gabriel records where he had his 12 rounds with the mellotron.

I binged their fifteen studio albums some days ago and this isn't really that bad. Undoubtedly, it's the weakest Genesis album, but if it had been released as a related project album instead, it would have received more love.

A boring album, imitation of "successful" models (from Floyd to Brian Adams, Sting) . A good singer but without any kind of soul nor personality, A luxurious production but without soul and a handful of forgettable songs from minute 1 and with only one memorable moment , the last cut.

Mike Rutherford said he liked this album because it was "darker" than the previous two albums with Phil Collins and they tried to create a "heavier" sound that hearkened back to their earlier sound. I can kinda see that with a few songs, particularly "Calling All Stations", "Alien Afternoon" and "One Man's Fool", but about half of this album sounds like songs that were rejected from the We Can't Dance sessions. Ray Wilson, while he has a great voice, doesn't have very good range, and his performances don't really lift up the songs much. Phil had such a great, emotive singing voice, he was able to lift up the weaker songs from the previous two albums and make them more memorable than they would've been otherwise. Ray doesn't really do that, though you can tell he's trying hard. As a result, this has quite a bit of filler, more than any other Genesis album, in my opinion. No hate on Ray, it's just very hard replacing a legend like Phil Collins.

It would be incredible. If Phil sang on this album, it might of actually been better than We Can't Dance. One can only imagine.

Good singing. Shame Banks and Rutherford couldn't be bothered to write any half-decent songs. It just reeks of laziness.

Has some great songs, but it's probably the most lazy Genesis album. I have little doubt Tony played the same keyboard on most every song, same with Mike's guitars. Ray said in the book when they worked on the title track, easily the most memorable and classic song from the album, instead of being psyched about what was happening and possibly getting engaged into the process, Mike and Tony were more into reading the newspaper and just being idle.

This best Genesis album made! and in fact first time for good Genesis album for they had not achieved good album before! Story of Genesis begins with Calling All Stations, what was beforehand was footnote yes!

Wow, now after many years I must say that this is also a perfect album. And Ray Wilson has an amazing voice. I listen in his voice a little Peter, a little Phil and a little bit in some parts to Sting :) But ultimately this is a great unique Ray's voice. The album may not have been so commercially successful, but thanks to Tony, Mike, Ray and additional musicians, it was another great Genesis album... ...Guys, I think - now maybe occurred a moment to you all met together (Anthony, Tony, Mike, Steve, Peter, Phil, Ray and maybe Daryl and Chester) and recorded the spectacular, amazing double album - the best in the world =) To which we would never forget. I believe you that you would be able to do perfectly. I love Genesis forever :)

Rather underrated, not as bad as anyone says. Most songs are better than most of the songs from "Invisble touch" and "We can't dance".

I only know the song Congo from it, but with this song alone the album can't be bad.

Underrated album, good songwriting. No, it's not the Genesis of old, but I think that if this wasn't called "Genesis" this album would be critically acclaimed. For all the hate Ray Wilson gets here, he's guilty of nothing more than not being PC/PG. Very good album, don't listen to it much, but when I do I always realise how good it is!

Overall "Calling all stations" was still the 4th best-selling album from Genesis... It just didn't have that much success in Europe... I really love Ray's vocals on the songs from the Calling All Stations album. It's definately one of my favourite albums from Genesis. If you like Ray Wilson's Genesis songs check out his live albums on which you will find a lot of Genesis songs sung live (often acoustic)...

The then-new singer showed potential on at least two of the three songs that came on the record. He really could have give this guys something on a creative term. Missed oportunity, indeed. I never will exactly understand why it's more important to musicians to sell millions of records then just being creative. It's not like guys like Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks really were in need of money. Calling All Stations may not been exactly the best Genesis record, but it's still far from being the worst. But then again i'm not one of the "Phil Collins = Genesis" fans and still can enjoy a record when someone other is singing on it. And since his one time Genesis record, i'm really a huge fan of this guy. Check out his solo records if you not already know them. Well worth, any cent.
