“P power”, originally titled “pussy power”, is an erotic ode to the irresistible sexual power that women hold. Over syrupy, explicitly sensual production that distinctly features women moaning, Gunna and Drake detail their drug-fueled sexcapades with women, and Drake also takes time to address his gang involvement.
The original version of this track samples the single version of Donna Summer’s 1976 record, “Could It Be Magic.” However, the sample did not appear on the final version of “P power.” Issues with the sample’s clearance were likely why the song was delayed and not released with the standard version of “DS4EVER“ on its set release date of January 7, 2022.
The track was first previewed in a later-deleted post on Gunna’s Instagram on November 2, 2021. It was then announced to have a Drake feature with the release of the “DS4EVER“ tracklist. Prior to its release with “DRIP SEASON 4EVER“, the full original song containing the Donna Summer sample leaked on January 8, 2022, a day after “DS4EVER“ was released.
“P power” peaked at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week of January 29, 2022. On October 20, 2022, the track was certified gold by the RIAA.
