“Coast” serves as Hailee Steinfeld’s long awaited come back to music after a two-year gap since her last release.
It’s no surprise Hailee got Anderson to hop on the track, both of them were raised on California, which was a big influence for the record, Hailee states.
She started teasing the song back in April 2022, posting a snippet of the beggining of it on Twitter and a pre-save link with the name of the track. On July 22 2022, she announced the release date and teased the feature saying the following:
"If you’ve been with me for a while you know this has been a long time coming. If you’re new here… I’m about to release my first song in over a year with one of my favorite artists/someone I’m lucky to call a friend. He’s so sick!! And so is the song!! Bet!!!!"
The day after, she finally unveiled the cover art for the single asbwell as announcing Anderson .Paak as the feature.
