Homo Erraticus stands up pretty well, even alongside Tull's classic work. I often find myself wanting to listen to it for its own merits.

TAAB live made my month. What a wonderful concert that was and to relive it is the next best thing! My favorite song ever written :D

"The delight in making music is that you don't have a formula." - Ian Anderson of the legendary Jethro Tull talks Thick as Brick, Frank Zappa and tackling "the unstoppable population expansion of planet Earth" on "Locomotive Breath": http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/ian_anderson_the_delight_in_making_music_is_that_you_don_t_have_a_formula_/

Thanks for the opinions, I really should check TAAB 2 out then! I thought it would be more like a cash-in than actually good music. :( But, does it loan much from TAAB musically, or is it completely a new composition? I wouldn't mind if it was somehow musically thematic / same as the original. :P Oh and what a coincidence: Happy birthday to Ian! ^_^

Indeed. In my opinion it comes very close to its prequel. As stated before Wilson has done an excellent job in producing this gem.

TAAB 2 is such a great come-back. Best material he has put out in years. And it certainly helps to have the masterful production skills of Steven Wilson on board as well.

@Bought_New_Soul, me too. Along with "Banker Bets, Banker Wins". I'm sure the whole album will be growing in me with more listens. I think that If Phideaux and Big Big Train releases their new albums and it are the great albums I'm expecting, 2012 will be a great year on the prog rock.

I think it's extremely difficult to release a sequel of one of the most important prog albums, more than forty years later, and having unanimous awesome critics. Congratulations. This album make my day. THE BEST ANDERSON. IMO, TAAB2 will be an instant classic. (4 in Progarchives now, a really difficult mark)

Extremely solid and enjoyable album. Not as good as TAAB, but still a worthy sequel in my eyes.

Charismatic as ever! TAAB2 is not impressive in the context of his best works, but still quite enjoyable!

I don't usually like playing the same album back to back... but I'm on my 6th listen today. TAAB2 is insanely good, it's fresh and new, and at the same time nods to the past, not just TAAB but the entire career of Ian Anderson.
