One of their very best, and completely written by Bruce, which really is pretty incredible, keeping in mind this is the most epic song the band has ever written!

Thank the maker that I wasn't saddled with whatever gene makes people think songs can be too long.

Blame pop radio. Or the extremely poor attention spans of people. I don't know how some of these people sit through a movie that's longer than 5 minutes.... Oh well. their loss.

I've heard that not everyone who reads a book can make the 'movie in their head' play while they read, and I wonder if the same is true of some people not being able to do the same with a song. It's easier to spend 20 minutes listening to a track when I have vivid imagery being planted in my mind's eye as I do so.

Book Of Souls isn't really to my tastes, but this song alone makes it worth coming back to again and again

7:17 is super hard-hitting on a good tip, gets me "pumped" in a "Mozart way" 10:33 or 12:31 -> could hear it all day. When they're on that full-blast catchy trip, they really always have a strong (iron) lead melody that's just kickass nice, regardless of how to take it. But the other parts are too conventional, mature, lacking of effort or "bookshelf" for me. That's exactly what i don't want from Maiden. I want vast wild visions that don't have anything to do with "coming down". :)

I think this is now my favorite Maiden song. I've listened to it at least a dozen times now, and it gets better on every listen. It's like listening to a piece of classical music from one of the greats. It's just transcendent. Anyone who doesn't believe this is one of Maiden's best songs is really just stuck in the 80s and needs to grow up. I mean, what are you guys, in your 40s and 50s? It's time to cut the hair and ditch the torn jeans.

To be producing music as good as this after such a long career is just amazing.

Gave this its 3rd and final listen a minute ago. It's sad, really. This is the same band that had the magic power to craft songs that were from 3 to 13 mins of beauty and force.... those days have passed. Steve et. al somehow lost the gift of making compact songs... the rot really set in on Matter of Life and Death and 'tis been all downhill from there... the songs just ramble on aimlessly, without any highpoints. Live, they still kinda rock.

It took about 15-20 album play-throughs, but slowly it became clear that this was my favorite track from the new album. I definitely wouldn't say it is my all-time favorite (not even top 10), but top 25 seems pretty likely (which is still good, considering Maiden's prolific discography).

One of their all-time great songs. Their best song since Paschendale. I must profess my love for When the Wild Wind Blows and The Man Who Would Be King, The Final Frontier wasn't as bad of an album as many say it was.

My all-time favorite Maiden song for a very long time has been "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner". But I think this one might just have put the Mariner to the second place :O

I thought they would never compose a more epic song than "When the Wild Wind Blows", but they fucking did it!
