This song seems to be Dilla’s acknowledgment of the legacy he will leave behind: the prominent and poignant sample of You're Gonna Need Me by Dionne Warwick is telling.
That same sample was notably used two years prior by legendary producer Just Blaze throughout Usher’s song “Throwback” from his best-selling 2004 album "Confessions", which features a guest verse from Jadakiss, who is sampled in this song’s intro.
