James Taylor played this for George Harrison and Paul McCartney, in JT's words "George liked it so much he wrote Something, Paul liked it so much he signed me."

"Something in the Way She Moves" is a song written by James Taylor that appeared on his 1968 debut album for Apple Records, James Taylor. It has also been covered by other artists, including Tom Rush and Harry Belafonte. The opening line inspired George Harrison to write the #1 Beatles' song "Something." According to James Taylor's stage banter at the Apollo Theater on June 16, 2015, this was the song he played for Paul McCartney as an audition before signing with Apple Records.

"This song actually came out before the Beatles Something." Yes indeed and if memory serves, George Harrison actually told James Taylor he loved the line "Something in the way she moves..." and asked if he could use it in his song. James was, of course, flattered and said yes!

Dead on... it's absolutely a tribute to Harrison's Something. Until you said it, I hadn't even realized the first line of Harrison's "Something" was the name of the song when I first wrote about this, but wow... yeah. Absolutely on the nose. Even more strangely(?) is they played back to back. It was bound to happen eventually, but interesting it happens after I see someone else has added to my original shout.

Love this song., one of James' best, and that's among many beauties. As a side note, I like the trivia connection to the George Harrison's Something, from which the title of this song seems to be a quote.

What I really love about J.T. tunes are they sound good pretty much no matter which version of it they play. Come to think of it, this was the first song I ever sung TO my ex-wife, ABOUT my ex-wife (back when we were actually 'in love'). I think this is one of the greatest (say, top 5) love songs ever written. Strangely enough, the song rated by Rolling Stone magazine as "The Greatest Love Song Ever" also had the word "something" in the title... or, err... rather, WAS the title (I think): "Something" by the Beatles
