Biography

Native of Verviers in Belgium, Jean-François MALJEAN grew next to his piano. Endowed with a style both indéfinable and incomparable, a promising career opened to him.

After its studies to Verviers, Liège and Brussels, Jean-François investigates new horizons and strengthens its talent and its passion for the Jazz in Berklee College of Music of Boston where he refines his style and reveals his true artistic personality.

In his return of the United States, Jean-François forms the group Smoky Mokes (ragtime) with in particular, Jacques STOTZEM in the guitar.

Later, he joins Pierre RAPSAT and his group TRANSFERT, which he had already accompanied before his journey in the United States. They will be 10 years of extensive collaboration.

He begins singer’s career with the group MALJEAN-WILLEMS in 1984, and it, successfully during decade and of numerous recorded albums.

In 1996, Jean-François returns to its puppy love the piano with its album “Vue sur Mer” and begin an international career with the editor André D’ Anjou (ADASONG) in Southeast Asia.

The success is immediate.

Since then, Jean-François published 13 different albums among which more than 50 versions exist in the world.

Artist known and recognized in China under the name “SHANG MA LONG”, he occurs enormously and regularly on stage in Asia where he takes away a frank success!

In 2008, he publishes “LATIN ONE”, ” électro-latino-jazz “, with piano, percussions, sax, trumpet, bass and électro drums featuring, produces by prestigious record company COLUMBIA Japan.

«LATIN ONE» goes out in Belgium in 2008 to September Records (Jazz Label) and is also signed in numerous countries
