I really don't understand why it's always Ladyland vs. Are You Experienced. This to me is clearly his best when it comes to actual songwriting. The other two are better "guitar" albums, but this is just so much more enjoyable to me.

I see where you're coming from, it has some of his best "melodic" songs (Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand and Bold as Love), to me his bestpsychedelic piece (If 6 was 9), a strong hard rock tune (Spanish Castle Magic) and a great pop tune (Wait Until Tomorrow). So it basically showcases all the things great about Hendrix to me. But the rest of the tunes are some of his more forgettable to me. Though I do think you have a point about him being remembered this loud guitar here who set his strat on fire and therefore this record, which features more of his clean playing (which extraordinary), is by default overlooked.

Honestly my favorite Hendrix album is changing day by day. All three are classics, with the best guitar work, creativity, and songwriting I have ever heard.

As someone who prefers Jimi's often overlooked mellow and soft side over his hard guitar burning rockstar side, I agree and probably if I'd have to pick a favourite Jimi album it'd be this one as well. Though the other ones are great as well, and then we aren't even talk about his incredible live albums like Monterey and Band of Gypsys
