Formed in Edinburgh in 2005 by Joe Acheson (bass and electronics), Poppy Ackroyd (keyboards and violin), Tim Lane (drums), and Jamie Graham (v-drums and percussion).

Occasional guests live and on recordings include Marcus Britton (Orkestra del Sol, La Boum, Fat Tuesday), Su-a Lee (Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Mr McFall's Chamber), Nick Roth, Fraser Fifield, MC Profisee and Colm O'Hara.

JAQ are building a strong following on the live circuit for their stunning blend of jazz, hip-hop, beats, electronics and FX. They have been likened to DJ Shadow, Red Snapper and Cinematic Orchestra, while themselves citing influences as varied as Stravinsky, Luke Vibert, Arvo Part, Ravel, Radiohead and The Doors.

Gigs since summer 2005 have included performances with Bonobo, Jaga Jazzist, Aim, Alice Russell, Gilles Peterson, and Zero dB, and at Dialogues, Spectrum, Organic Beats, Dunstaffnage, The Graffiti Project, and SOUND festivals. Airplay includes Radio 1, XFM, Radio Scotland, Radio Magnetic, Olohuone (Finland) and live sessions on BBC Radio 1 (Scotland) in November 2006, and BBC Radio Scotland in April 2007.

Tracks have been released on compilations from Alex Tronic Records (Edinburgh, May 07), and DDE Records in Italy (Dec 06), including a remix of London-based Lautrec. Other remixes include Found, Great Ezcape, Kinetic Fallacy, and an interactive software remix for Coldcut.
