The Tori version I heard first, and it made me curious about Joe Jackson and his music. Because of Tori, I became a Joe Jackson fan. I like them both, but Joe's is a little better, because it's HIS song. But that's just my opinion folks.

No retroguy , its not the young that like Tori `s version its Americans who like it, cos its by an American artist, typical bias , personally i think she ruined the song her voice doesnt fit plus changing lyrics duuuh. Joe`s version is original and has passion and meaning behind it. But fortunately for her shes got America backing her.

Whut? Tori Amos covered this? If I was religious I would thank God, he never tortured me by hearing that.

Great pop music doesn't have to be about a girl! Like Bruce Cockburn, this guy knows how to use music to comment on something bigger.

Thankfuly I'm ignorant of Tori's version. Perfection cannot be topped and this is simply perfect.

Isn't this Joe's song? I thought he wrote it and Tori covered it. Not quite the same thing when a girl sings it. We're not real men, after all.

Well, I heard the Joe Jackson version not long after it was first released, so perhaps I am biased, but I don't think Tori's cover is anywhere close to being as good as what Joe Jackson does with this song. I have to agree with Nerdork, Joe is more heartfelt and believable.

I like Tori's version better. But that's probably because I heard it before his version.
