2000 is the highly anticipated third studio album by Joey Bada$$ and the follow-up to ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$, which was released over five years prior, in April 2017.

Following January 2022’s “THE REV3NGE”, the album’s lead single, “Head High”, was released on March 3, 2022. A snippet of the song appeared on PRO ERA’s YouTube channel, two years before its release.

The album’s trailer was released on May 11, revealing its title and original release date of June 17. Joey confirmed via Twitter that “Head High” would be the only single from the album.

The day before the album’s originally planned release date, Joey announced through a tweet, that the album had to be postponed to a further date, due to sample clearance issues.

A second single from the album, “Where I Belong”, was released on July 1st. A snippet of the track was already teased in the album’s trailer.

A third single, “Survivor’s Guilt” was released on July 7, which is the birthday of Joey’s late friend, Capital STEEZ. The song serves as a tribute to him.

The fourth and final single of the album, “Zipcodes” was released on July 15.

The album’s tracklist was revealed through Apple Music, on July 18, boasting features from artists such as hip-hop legend, Diddy, Westside Gunn, Larry June, and JID. R&B artists Capella Grey and Chris Brown, also make an appearance on the album, where they are both featured on the song, “Welcome Back”. The album’s cover was revealed the next day, on Apple Music.

The release of 2000 marks 1932 days since the release of Joey’s sophomore studio album, ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$. It is the longest interval between any of his projects released throughout his career yet.

The album also serves as an ideal sequel to Joey’s debut project, 1999, as it marks the tenth anniversary since the start of his career. This is also confirmed by the colorful artwork, which follows the general design of its prequel.
