Jungle By Night is a Amsterdam-based 9-piece band of youngsters who know each other from school, or via family-ties. Named after the enclosure of night animals in the Artis zoo, all members are fans of African music. Their heroes are Fela Kuti, Orchestre Poly-Ritmo de Cotonou and Mulatu Astatke. Jungle By Night play instrumental, danceable music that is heavily influenced by these heroes, yet they add their own attitude. So far, they've played with Astatke, remaining members of Poly-Ritmo and former members of Fela Kuti's band and they supported John Legend & The Roots and Mayer Hawthorne. In The Netherlands, they're quite a sensation, selling out venues and playing all the big summerfestivals.
