"Just a Stranger" marks the second collaboration between Kali Uchis and The Internet’s Steve Lacy, following the 2016 buzz single "Only Girl”. The song was produced by Lacy and BROCKHAMPTON’s Romil Hemnani.
On “Just a Stranger” Kali Uchis assumes the role of a gold-digger trying to seduce a man. However, instead of bashing this character, the Colombian-American singer paints the portrait of a strong and careless woman, breaking stereotypes (much like she did on her previous collaboration with Lacy).
