Solita was released on December 4th, 2019 as the lead single for Kali Uchis' then-unnamed Spanish language sophomore album. The song never appeared on the album though and '¡aquí yo mando!' with Rico Nasty was released as the new lead single in August 2020. Uchis would describe 'Solita' as 'sad, yet horny' in an interview with Apple Music. Lyrically the song discusses a failed relationship where she was cheated on and left alone, although Uchis would also state that the song focuses on the positive parts of being single rather than the stereotypical negatives. The title of the song means 'solo' or 'lone woman'. It is mostly sung in Spanish.
Sonically, the song has been described as modern Latin R&B and 80s synth pop. Commercially, the song peaked at #9 on US Latin Pop Digital Song Sales, her first top 10 hit on the chart and second entry overall. It charted for 2 weeks. The music video has amassed over 6 million views since its release.
