I have no problem saying the few minutes between when the vocals come in and when the piano starts is the heaviest shit on the planet.

"The section where the vocals come in around 6 minutes into the song is the most apocalyptic, claustrophobic, insane, epically frightening thing I've ever heard." - true that

@anaesthetise: May be, but for example when he says 'Yesterday' idk, it just feels like Mr Byron is growling it the first time while Toby screams it the second time. Same like in the old motW days in Birth Pains how they shift the vocals. I may be wrong either way this is a such a badass song it's indescribable

Heavy as all hell. Also, can someone please tell me what WMBR is? I'd eat poop to hear another version of this song.

@melez102: I'm pretty sure Toby does all of the vocals on here, including the growls (unlike the motW days). You can't really tell the difference anyway, due to how low they are in the mix at that part, which ends up sounding like a fantastic, roaring cacophony.

I've always thought of this song this way: you start with an object in the present, it's mysterious and antediluvian but otherwise unremarkable, and the song is a travel from now where the object's past is almost faded to its beginnings. I got that from the "melody" that sort of reveals itself out of the silence. Almost like listening to something fading away backwards and coming into clarity. Don't know, just thought I'd share that as I always took that from the song, which is absolutely amazing obviously, as everyone else has already said.

Still blown away by the WMBR performance. Most beautiful and ugly thing ever, at the same time.

I'm in love with the beautiful ending! I sometimes wish to cut it out and listen to just the trumpet...

I feel stupid for not realizing sooner how excellent this song is. It's possibly one of Kayo Dot's best.

Jesus fucking CHRIST. How unbelievably heavy. Also, everyone who hasn't needs to take a listen to the WMBR version. Toby's screams are so fucking intense, I can't even take it.

I'm always already dead after the first, long build-up part. How can anyone top that with anything?

this IS my favorite track of ever. so amazingly gut-punching, and then it just drops away into this amazing mysterious ending...it's emotionally draining and intense. it's everything i'll ever need in a song.
