X is Ken Carson’s sophomore studio album, following July 2021’s Project X.
The project went through several delays and name changes since it was first announced.
Originally intended to be a deluxe version of his debut studio album said to be titled Project Xtended and contain a multitude of features.
On August 21, 2021, Ken would share that the project would now be self-titled. However, as the project went through more delays, the name eventually changed to X_MAN.
On May 7, 2022, Ken claimed that he had turned in the album which would contain a total of 18 songs. He also announced that “The End” would be the lead single and would release on May 9, however, this never came to fruition.
On June 4, 2022, Ken tweeted that two more songs were added to the tracklist.
On June 27, 2022, a billboard was spotted confirming that the album would be released on July 8. Ken would later announced the project’s release himself
Finally, on July 5, the project’s lead single, “The End” would release. Later that day, it was confirmed Playboi Carti—Ken’s label founder, was the executive producer.
On July 6, 2022, the official tracklist for X was revealed. Destroy Lonely and Homixide Beno! and Homixide Meechie of Homixide Gang serve as the main features.
