“Visiting Hours” is the eighth track on Kero Kero Bonito’s sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place. One of the most deeply personal cuts on the album, it documents a conversation between one of the band’s producers, Gus Lobban, and his father who had fallen extremely ill and wound up in the hospital. Gus asks his father a plethora of questions about his well-being, hoping to provide a sense of comfort, to both his father and the listener. The song’s lyrics can be seen as an epiphany of sorts, as Lobban stated in a 2018 interview with The Fader, “it’s this really strange mix of horror and the euphoria of seeing that the worst hasn’t happened.”
