“Don’t Play That” is the first official posthumous release by the late Chicago native rapper, King Von. On February 2, 2022, it was announced by Von’s estate that the song would be releasing on February 4th, with 21 Savage as the featured artist.

The track was first teased by King Von while he was still alive, with a snippet posted on Instagram on October 7, 2020. After Von’s untimely passing, a new snippet surfaced on an Instagram Live, revealing Key Glock had recorded a verse for the song. Finally, on April 30, 2021, a demo version of the track leaked online.

Throughout the track, Von speaks about his daily day-to-day activities, consisting of robberies, sex, and weapons, while subliminally dissing his oppositions, with Savage following a very similar path in his own verse.
