“Jewels N' Drugs” is a hip-hop track with trap elements. Gaga curates star power (T.I.) with legacy power (Too Short) and (Twista) to deliver a simple point: She wants love.
"I took the beats, I went back in my room and I sliced them all up and made one song and it turned into “Jewels N' Drugs”. I wrote a hook that went in between each growth and then we called T.I., Too $hort and Twista. (…) for these guys to be fearless coming into the pop world from hip-hop and being so unafraid to connect with a new community, that’s what ARTPOP is all about. You know, Jeff Koons being unafraid to bring pop fans into the art world and give the art world to these pop fans. And these hip-hop artists being cool with just saying “here, take my hip-hop and i’ll take your pop”.
