"Cherry" speaks of extreme devotion in love. Through metaphors of nature, Lana conveys how her love is all-encompassing, that it is so powerful that it can take away fear, overcome danger, and wreak havoc. The chorus reflects this sentiment by saying that she falls to pieces when she is with her loved one and that her life experiences, be it the rose garden, cherries and wine, black beaches and celluloid scenes, are all ruined because of the overwhelming emotion of love. Ultimately, the song shows how when someone is deeply devoted to someone else, their life experiences and memories are tainted in one way or another, even if it is something beautiful.
