The chorus emphasizes the importance of staying close to Jesus and keeping a strong sense of inner self and faith despite the temptations of life, while the verses talk about the need to keep faith and remain true in the face of all obstacles. The singer is also encouraging her listener to return to the "second floor" of her and her partner's Arkansas home, as it is a place of peace and solitude.
