Spirit Phone is the seventh studio album by Lemon Demon, the musical pseudonym of Neil Cicierega. It was released on 29 February 2016. The album can be bought digitally from Bandcamp.

The album had been in development for eight years, after the release of the previous album View-Monster in July 2008. During that time, some of the songs that would later end up on the final version of the album were released individually. The earliest of these was ‘Eighth Wonder’ which was first released as a music video on YouTube and free MP3 download in November 2009, seven years before Spirit Phone was released.

Other songs include the bonus track ‘Redesign Your Logo’ which was first released on The FuMP in April 2010 (later included on The FuMP Volume 20), and ‘Reaganomics’, an earlier mix of which was released on YouTube in April 2012. Bonus track ‘Gravitron’, an unused theme originally created for Disney animated television series Gravity Falls, was first released online in July 2012 (see Neil’s tumblog post).

Two tracks were first released as free downloads on Neil’s Patreon page. ’When He Died’ was first released in an earlier mix in October 2014, and bonus track ’Pizza Heroes’ was released in January 2015, the latter originally created for the Songs About Pizza compilation by the Harry Potter Alliance.

Another bonus track, ‘Kubrick and the Beast’, was the final song to be released before the album proper, as an official release on Bandcamp in June 2015.

‘Cabinet Man’ was also played live in the years before its first official release as part of Spirit Phone.

In the run-up to the album, select demos with and without vocals were released on Neil’s tumblog. These can be accessed here:
