Life on Venus is a shoegaze band from Moscow, Russia.

It all started somewhere across 2015, when they got to know each other - mostly while playing in other bands - and occasionally began to write songs together. The band is now Dima (bass, vocals), Oleg (guitar) and Gulya (drums).

The band used to gather in those small rehearsal studios and soviet-era dorm rooms, trying to shape that dreamy sound they are known for nowadays. In 2016, they managed to release an EP, "Distant lights", manifesting themselves in the shoegaze scene.

Their first full length album, "Encounters", was recorded almost a year after the EP. The band's reverb-drenched guitars and distant, almost whispery vocals made a pefrect duo along with catchy, pulsating rhythm section. The recording process didn't take long, most of the songs were done in a couple of takes. Then there were series of sleepless nights which Dima, the band's songwriter, singer and guitarist, spent mixing and mastering the tapes, but it was all worth every minute. The record has got the vibe the band's been looking and reaching for - noisy, surreal atmopshere and dreamy melodies followed by soft and hazy vocal lines.

Life on Venus ended 2018 with a single named "For the Kill". Fast and punchy drums accompanied by dark and mellow lines of baritone guitars opened a new way to describe the feelings and tell the stories the band had come up with.
