“Emotionally Scarred” finds Lil Baby looking back at the influence that his old hood life left on his mindset. The rapper recalls being poor and explains that his come-up forced him to cut off many people from his entourage. A few days before the release of My Turn, Baby told The New York Times:
"I don’t miss my old life at all. Period."
The three-minute song is one of the five tracks on My Turn produced by frequent collaborator Twysted Genius and stands out as one of the breakout hits from the album.
During the week ending March 14, 2020, “Emotionally Scarred” debuted and peaked at #31 on the Hot 100.
“Emotionally Scarred” was certified 3x platinum by the RIAA on February 28, 2022.
