Barter 16 would've been Lil Uzi Vert’s fourth or fifth studio album (alongside Luv is Rage 3) following his June 2023, "Pink Tape". However, as of 2024, the album has been scrapped.

The album pays homage to the, currently incarcerated, Young Thug’s game-changing debut mixtape, Barter 6. The name "Barter 16" is a play on words regarding Uzi’s home street number, North 16 Street in Philadelphia, along with the Young Thug inspired aesthetic of Barter 6. The album was expected to release on August 25th, 2023.

The project was first teased following the release of Pink Tape after Uzi had promised that if the project went #1 on the Billboard 200, this would be released next.

"Sitting here thinking about how I went #1 off an experimental tape. My apologies, Barter 16 mixtape on the way, free Slime."

Lil Uzi Vert formally introduced Barter 16 after they promised they would drop it "next Friday" if their Instagram following got their friend, Lil 1 DTE, to 100,000 Instagram followers.

Following the intro of the Barter 16 rollout, a large number of leaked songs that are supposedly from this mixtape leaked on the 18th and 19th of August after misinterpretations of the Barter 16 release date enraged leakers. Rumors are circulating that the entire mixtape could be, in its entirety, leaked by Sunday the 20th. Many are hoping this doesn't cause the album to be delayed, as Lil Uzi Vert swore on Destroy Lonely they would keep his promise of dropping the album the day they are supposed to.

Barter 16, as of September 19th, 2023, is a discontinued project. It hasn’t been mentioned after the leaking incident. A tracklist reworking is possible but isn’t confirmed nor denied.

On September 29th, 2023, a single for Luv is Rage 3 named “NFL” (acronym for Never Fall in Luv) released exclusively on YouTube as a teaser for Uzi’s next project. This decision likely means Barter 16 has been scrapped entirely.

Today, nearly the entire album will occasionally appear on YouTube or Soundcloud, however, the songs are registered and typically get taken down pretty fast.
