“That’s on Me” is Mac’s way of expressing accountability for his mental state while also trying to help those who may be in a similar situation. An introspective track filled with allusions to his bad mental health, with lyrics like “Don’t wait around” and “I’ll let it go, I’ll cut the strings”, serve to showcase Mac’s understanding and acceptance of where he’s at mentally.
Heart-wrenching to many fans, Mac tries to simultaneously console our grief while also expressing his own up-hill battle with mental health.
A demo version of the track leaked online on October 31, 2019. When compared, you can see how the album version fits more into "Circles"‘ vibe.
