María Teresa Chacín (born in Caracas, January 22, 1943), is a famous Venezuelan singer, in her career has brought Venezuelan music to all parts of her country, and has become one of the most popular figures of Venezuela. Her presence is demanded in all programs related to Venezuelan cultural events.

María Teresa Chacín has recorded over 50 albums, belonged to the University Choir of the Central University of Venezuela from 1963, standing out during 8 years as soloist, participated in the First International festival of university choirs at the Lincoln Center of New York City in 1965. Today she continues very tie to that institution getting up herself in special occasions.

In 1970 obtained the psychology degree, from the Catholic University Andrés Bello. In 1975, recorded a Venezuelan music album, and one of Latin American music, with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Aldemaro Romero. She has traveled by the world in her eagerness to spread the Venezuelan music, that is her passion.

María Teresa Chacín has received numerous recognitions, given by Venezuelan critics, including Guaicaipuro de Oro, Meridiano de Oro, Cardenal de Oro, Gran Sol de Oriente, Idolo de Plata, Mara de Oro, Canaima de Oro, and the award Escenario Juvenil, all of them for being best singer of Venezuelan music, has been acclaimed not only in Venezuela, also out of it, where she has captivated audiences in places like the O.A.S. Hall in Washington, D.C.
