Fear and Loathing, is a song released under her previous stage name 'Marina and the Diamonds'. Appearing on her second studio album, Electra Heart, it is the 12th and final track on the standard edition.

The song was written by Marina alone, and produced by Liam Howe. Fear and Loathing was used as Part 1 of 'The Archetypes', and is a 'Beauty Queen' song, along with Primadonna, and The State of Dreaming.

Marina called Fear and Loathing a turning point in her life, after which she stopped being a "bitter person" and began to work with new people and try new things, even though she wrote the song alone in her bedroom in London. She placed the track last on Electra Heart because she views it as a "letting go" song.

Marina's grandmother, who was 93 at the time, is featured on the track. Marina recorded her 'gran' while she was cooking in her kitchen, singing 'an old Greek folk song,' which is faintly heard at the end of Fear and Loathing.
