Martin Belmont (born 21 December 1948, in Bromley, Kent, England) is an English rock 'n' roll and country-blues guitarist. His long and varied career has found him playing with many outstanding artists. After an initiation as roadie for Brinsley Schwartz, in 1972 he helped form Ducks Deluxe, issuing two albums on RCA. In 1975 he helped form Graham Parker & the Rumour who were much-feted over their five years and six albums. Then he spent two years from 1980 as guitarist for Carlene Carter, succeeded by five years with Nick Lowe’s Cowboy Outfit, in both line-ups playing alongside Paul Carrack. Currently, Belmont can be found playing variously in Los Pistoleros, The Johnny Nicky Band, Hank Wangford & The Lost Cowboys, and the reformed Ducks Deluxe.
Throughout his career Belmont has been an in-demand sideman across a wide spectrum of music, with sessions for Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg, Carl Perkins, Jona Lewie, John Hiatt, Desmond Decker and Johnny Cash, to name but a few.
In 1995 Demon Records issued Belmont's first solo album, ‘Big Guitar’. His more-recent album 'The Guest List' saw him reunited with many of the singers he’s played with: - new recordings with Paul Carrack, Nick Lowe, Carlene Carter, Graham Parker, Sean Tyla, Geraint Watkins, Hank Wangford, Johnny Nicky, Barbara Marsh & Reg Meuross.
