"Fortunate" is a song written by R. Kelly and produced by Musze (Maxwell), released in 1999 as a single off the official soundtrack to the film Life. The single spent four weeks at #1 on the Billboard R&B charts, becoming Maxwell's first #1 and biggest hit until the release of "Pretty Wings" some 10 years later. It also peaked at #4 on the Hot 100.
The song finds the protagonist describing a love unlike any other he's ever experienced, noting the vibrancy of his surroundings and life in general now that he's found his lover. He expresses his gratitude at being so fortunate to have her.
