This may sound blasphemous but I don't like this album at all. Countdown to Extinction (song) is their best power ballad, Symphony of Destruction is good, Ashes in Your Mouth has nice opening riff, but the rest of the songs are boring as hell. I can name at least five Megadeth albums that I like more than this one.

I need to relearn Foreclosure on guitar. Foreclosure sounds like shine by collective soul. Foreclosure is a thrill.

A panzer gun in the start of aoa. Later on the panzer gun is taken out by a missile.

A fantastic record and one of Megadeth's finest. The bass tone is great here and almost every song is top-notch.

Darlene Conner and I have Captive Honour. Not that much though. Now I make a good cop. The cops wanted me to join them. I like cops.

I don't understand any of the negativity below - this is one of my Favorited albums by them, remaster or not. I think it'd be worth buying the remaster just so you get the track 'crown of worms' on the cd as well

Several amazing tracks ("Ashes in Your Mouth," "Symphony of Destruction," "High Speed Dirt," "Skin o' My Teeth," title track, "Sweating Bullets" is strong) but as a whole not as strong as the first several, IMO. Still a perfectly enjoyable album with plenty of kickass headbanging moments, though.

Can't believe I forgot to mention "Ashes in Your Mouth" among the highlights. One of my favorite Megadeth songs and a complete asskicker. Anyway, I think I slightly exaggerated in my previous comment; it really is a damn fine album. Didn't mean to make it sound like it wasn't. I would gladly take it over Metallica's self-titled record, to which it draws a lot of comparison and serves a similar purpose relative in Megadeth's discography as that album did in Metallica's.

Jesus Christ the clipping on this remaster is unbearable and there's no dynamic range at all.

I highly agree here, I used to listen to the remasters, but the originals sound way better to me.
