“EVIL” is the twelfth track on PORTALS by Melanie Martinez. The first snippet circulated on March 10th, 2023 when Atlantic Records sent an edible egg with a USB in it with a snippet of the track. Later, on March 18th 2023, Melanie performed the full song live in Lollapalooza, Argentina.
The song is about Melanie realising a relationship of her past was toxic and how she is proud of leaving them. “EVIL” has an instrumental that consists of a light-pop fused with synth rock elements.
