"Strawberry Blond" is a heartfelt ballad expressing love and admiration for someone. The song reflects on the narrator's love for this person, as well as their admiration and longing for the life that person lives. The narrator is trying to capture and savor the moments they have with this person, being mesmerized by the person's strawberry blond hair and the rolling fields they walk through. The chorus expresses a feeling of adoration and joy in being able to experience those moments with them: "Look at you strawberry blond/Fields rolling on/I love it when you call my name/ Can you hear the bumblebees swarm?/Watching your arm/I love it when you look my way." The outro of "Isaiah, Isaiah, Isaiah, Isaiah, Isaiah" is an acknowledgment of the fact that the narrator is living in a moment that has to end eventually, while they still try to capture and remember it as best they can.
"Strawberry Blond" can also be interpreted as the narrator wishing to be desired and fit into White America, similar to Mitski's "Your Best American Girl". She takes in the moments with the strawberry blond, unfortunately knowing her love is unrequited because she doesn't fit his desire for an "American girl."
