When the new record came out I wasn't particularly drawn-in by it. It seemed drawn-out and strange to me, I never really "got" the album - maybe I was too in love with precisely Disgorged From Psychotic Depths, I don't know. Anyways, now that Preserved in Torment had some time to sit and age, I'm more and more beginning to love it. The drums are well paced, the riffs are crisp but still very glooming and ominous. The bass and the vocals blend together into one sluggish, nasty hellfest of swampy gorgeousness. Such a great, filthy, disgusting and groovy record. That one's really proven to be a grower for me.

I'm a pretty big fan of the doomey style of death metal, so it hit fine with me.

new album is at best decent for some background death metal, nothing particularly remarkable about it..

I'd say sulphurous is at least on the same level, if not better. Cerebral Rot also not far behind. Not to mention quite a few good ones in black metal that if see on at least a similar level. Don't get me wrong, I really like the new album, but I'm not ready to hand it the crown just yet... Not to mention that Phrenelith and Hyperdontia are still on their way.

DFPD didn't really click when it first came out, but I definitely enjoy their side of the split with Hyperdontia.

ugh, it just feels so good. it's not quite the sort of amazing death doom that's been coming out of the bay area for a while (or, uh, spain? via ataraxy, etc) but it is extremely fucking good death metal which has that similar comfy vibe. haha. death metal for beleaguered stoners such as myself...

debut full length is some excellently crushing cavernous death/doom, just as promised by the demo..
