i like to think that at least one person saw the cover and name, then proceeded to listen to the whole album thinking it would be a fun surf rock experience

Лучший после Tonight's the Night. Если Tonight's the Night - полное отчаяние и падение сквозь слезы, то On the Beach - это молчаливая апатичная внутренняя депрессия, не дающая хоть как-то нормально функционировать. See the sky about to rain, On the beach и Ambulance blues самые любимые на этом альбоме.

Still my favorite of Neil's, still my favorite album period. Immaculately transfigured agony. How someone could live through whatever caused and then actually write and record Motion Pictures is way beyond me.

Yeah, I think I agree that this is Neil's best album. Rust Never Sleeps is probably the only other one that comes close for me. The second side of this album belongs on any list of the best album sides released during the '70s.

This is not party music, folks. It's for late nights alone, when you need a soul cleansing. Despite all the angry and dark lyrics, there is a complete lack of bitterness, and a feeling that he said what he had to say in song, and can now move on. A MUST for all of Neil Young fans, and anyone who appreciates well written lyrics. Highly Recommended!

Yes, my favorite album "of all time." Both sides are so tremendous; which of the two I like better on any given listen depends wholly on my mood.

I think this is my favorite album, by anyone. The only serious competitor is Yoko Kanno's Stand Alone Complex 3, but this is an even more coherent (and emotionally wrenching) work!

nostalgic, regretful, introspective, fucking bitter, and full of life. beautiful music.

the last three songs are so endlessly sad that sometimes it's hard to listen to the end

My favorite NY album in every way. Not many albums of any artist that I feel have no filler tracks but this is definitely one.

it's hard to describe the mixture of anger, moodiness, and sadness on this album. and i believe it's impossible to match.
