Got a free CD with MOJO ages ago but a tribute sort of thing, power corruption and lies recorded by current artists, now I had never heard this album so it was like hearing it for the first time but by others, its bloody good also contains a version of Blue Monday with a great vox vocal intro.

"an electronic bass and a real one together? that's fabulous! " - indeed it is... that's 1 thing that makes New Order so unique :)

Vaguely similar to Neu!'s Hallogallo but at the same time, really poppy and distinctive. Love this song on the first listen.

Buoyant and immensely catchy. To my tin ear, this sounds like a sure-fire hit--though it is difficult to crank out world-beating #1 hit singles when you never get around to, like, releasing them as singles. The lyrics even sound sorta upbeat if you ignore everything but the choruses, which is what pop music devotees are going to be doing anyway. (We can just cut out that stuff about their love dying two years ago, no? Oh, yes, yes, artistic integrity and whatnot. But making hits and lots of money is good too, no?)

i don't know about the chord progression but i guess you impression is caused by the fact that the vocal lines descents during the verse and the prominent bass in both songs (although i think in pictures of you its the fender 6 string bass which is actually a guitar). otherwise imo the village is much more electronic whereas in pics you mainly have 2 guitars lines and bass.
