Reliable sources from the studios say that the working title for the demo of the new single was "Is This Intro Over Yet".

I try to be the fan who gives all new material a chance, and sadly with this group their magic is just gone. Only two members left from their golden years and the chemistry just isn't there.

Here is the review of Perfume of the Timeless - Intro is good. Everything after is worse. Lol why the fuck is Floor singing mostly monotone? Goddamnit Tuomas this song was almost good and you fucked it up like you always do. (Aka 98% of Nightwish songs ever released) VERDICT: COMPLETELY EXPECTED DISAPPOINTMENT, WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED IN MY COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT 5.5/10

Almost feel like 5.5 is too high of a rating, because everything about this song is just... weak at best. The choice to bury Floor in the choruses is terrible, the subject matter has worn out its welcome with NW music because it's about all they do lately and they're very preachy about it, and Troy's singing at the end just feels completely unnecessary, as if they finished writing the song and realized they forgot to have him sing, so they just tacked on another chorus at the end with him singing instead of Floor to check that off on the to-do list. It's just bad, and not even in a memorable way because this song is anything but memorable.

I'm surprised that they announced the album without fanfare: no documentaries, no studio vlogs with dramatic voiceover, no Yle specials about Floor saying "perkele" while out buying beer at the grocery shop... They even used a common (and badly edited) stock photo to make the cover! Is that because, for once, the music is good enough to stand up without the circus, or so bad that Nuclear Blast can't be bothered putting money into a proper marketing campaign?

Oh, right. Imaginaerum. I never know what to make of that one. I admit I was unkind to it back in the day: it's not an actively bad album, it was just rendered obsolete and redundant upon arrival by the two (worse) album that came before it. It adds nothing new to the formula, it just gets it right at last. And even that was overshadowed by that cringefest of a movie, so... 😬

Whilst Floor is a very special world class singer , Nightwish have failed to release material that fully utilises her fantastic voice . End of an Era really was the last good material released by Nightwish.

I know it will not happen but I want a sympho electro metal album from them (a sympho metal combined with Rammstein sound)

Hell, I want them to experiment with industrial, synth (like Wish I had an Angel), doom, melo-death..hell I would want a song feat Alissa from Arch Enemy and one with Sabaton members, one with Apocalyptica, one with Shagrath or Till Lindemann or Mark Jansen

Wishing Floor a swift recovery, and I hope her final few weeks of pregnancy are as restful, serene and uneventful as getting overworked to literal collapse by the band's insane touring schedule haven't allowed it to be so far! 💚

Best song during the short period with Tarja. Oh..she doesn't sing there. Ok..best one with female voice is The Poet And The Pendulum. Oh wait..no Tarja there either.

Maybe I'll be thrown to the lions but for me DPP and Imaginaerum are the best albums of them. I really miss Anettes voice and I am constantly thinking how dirty everyone did to her. Not everything is a about vocal range.

I agree that the situation was not handled well at all. Tuomas seems to lack some serious social skills. I mean... didn't he learn after Tarja that this isn't how things are done? I love albums, too. I think they are way better than EFMB (my least fav, except for The Greatest Show on Earth which is superior) even though I prefer Floor to Anette. Especially after having them seen with both of them live. Seeing Nightwish with floor was an EXPERIENCE, holy fuck! Seeing them with Anette was like "hm, she'd better just sing the songs written for her voice, she ruins Tarja's songs". I actually just heard Nemo love with Anette again on a radio station, it was HORRIBLE. I didn't remember it being that bad. But it's not her fault, that song was written for a classical voice. Still, for me it's Tarja+Floor>>>>>>>>Anette. She has a sweet voice which works for "her" albums but she doesn't compare to the other 2 (but then who does). I'm happy Floor & Anette seem to get along still.

Nah. I'm super biased to the old stuff with Tarja simply because of Tarja's voice. She's definitely one of my favourite vocalists of all time. But I quite like DPP, and actually prefer the stuff with Annette over that with Floor. Not that that's Floor's fault, she is an amazing singer and I quite liked her in After Forever. And I do think that for the whole discography, she's the best choice for the band. But I'm just not a big fan of where Nightwish their song writing went after Imaginaerum. Annette was good. I think the issue was just the shock in how different it was from Tarja, and the struggle she had singing Tarja's songs. But the songs written for her where mainly awesome.

Those are the favourite albums of mine, too! I do overall prefer Tarja on studio recordings and Floor live, but albums written for Anette somehow remain my most liked. That is, apart from Showtime, Storytime. Floor's live redemption of Anette's songs just took them to a whole otherworldly level and that one cannot be beaten, I think.

Have you thought at the fact that MAYBE some Nightwish fans also love other 200+ bands alongside?? I mean, I love Nightwish but also Rammstein, Slipknot, Powerwolf, Iron Maiden, Parkway Drive, Metallica, Suede, Muse, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Rob Zombie, Epica - all of them toured and tours AT THE SAME FREAKIN TIME. So it is not because of the band (THEY ARE WAY MORE AMAZING than the tarja period (not even an era) but because not enough money

" Since Floor came to the band, Nightwish became waay more evolved than ever. " I think you are the only one delusional here lol. You may be talking about structure of the concerts, which is very understandable, since they got more rich with the time, as every band and artist with many years of career. But this kind of "evolving" doesn't mean they're better

If it wasn't for Tuomas, Tarja would not have made it so huge. Tarja sucks at writing songs. And has even less creativity than Evanescence.

Fuck Tarja. She wasn't in Nightwish for 18 fkin years. I would rather want ICS Vortex to be brought. And an album with special guests like Simone Simons, Apocalyptica, Till Lindemann, Peter Tagtgren, Alissa White Gluz, Tomi Joutsen, Shagrath. Nightwish has the potential of being the most legendary metal band but lack the balls for that

And yet all of them combined in a band they wouldn't be able to write songs like Tuomas does. So... that's senseless.

So, according to interviews they're basically falling apart and only held together by the management, and in the meantime Tarja and Marko are singing together on stage? I swear, if the special guest they still have to announce is Anette, I'm going to cackle.

Nordpolar, I'll grant you this: whether their music is good or not is subjective. Some might listen to their stealth Game of Thrones theme cover and be like, "Hmm, this is good" – more power to them. But other than that, is any of the instances I mentioned, upon which I built my "misguided" opinion, not factual? :)

I don't think so, but I'm also done arguing. Seen guys like you in other shoutboxes and in real life too. Some people just think their own view is absolute and any observation they make based on "facts" is the one and only truest of the true. Especially "Female Fronted Metal" seems to be vulnerable to intrusive have-been-fans who believe they got it all figured out. Keep it up, bye.

I understand, though I believe the same discourse can be applied to current fans, too – except they think the key to figuring things out is their own feelings rather than facts. Which is fine, both methods are valid depending on the context, we agree to disagree. Though, a piece of advice: when you go with facts you get enjoy things more. Like, I am perfectly aware some of the stuff I listen to is utter trash; if you came to me and told me that, I'd be like, "Yup, I know, but it's MY trash". It's important to acknowledge the bad in what we like, rather than defending it blindly: enjoying it *despite* its flaws is a bigger show of love than just pretending everything's fine. :) Bye, and enjoy your music consciously!

Just saw them last night. INCREDIBLE SHOW. So far I've only seen Tarja solo and Nightwish with Anette and sorry to say but the concert with Floor was 100x better than with Anette. Ok, to be fair... 15 years ago I think they didn't have all the effects they do now. But just Floor's voice and the whole atmosphere is just so different. Even though Marco & Jukka are still missing.
