"hope ur ok" is the eleventh and final track from Olivia Rodrigo's debut studio album, SOUR. It was released on May 21, 2021 through Geffen Records. This song takes a step back from her past relationship and focuses on her old neighborhood friends that had a difficult youth. This song is believed to be addressing how these friends were not accepted for being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, with lyrics like “his parents cared more about the Bible than being good to their own child” and “her parents hated who she loved”. In the first verse, “he wore long sleeves ‘cause of his dad” means that he was abused as a child for being who he was. In this song, Olivia expresses that she hopes her childhood friends are doing better today than they were before. She explains how she is proud that they were created “with the courage to unlearn all of their hatred”, aka hatred against the LGBTQ+ community, which they were raised on.
