Orgasm Death Gimmick was a live band from East Berlin in the underground scene of the former GDR. The band combined parts of various types of music, like Metal, Jazz, Grunge, Reggae and Funk.
Orgasm Death Gimmick was formed in May 1991 by Sven Kruspe, (now better known as Richard Kruspe guitarist from Rammstein) who played the guitar. At first he formed a band with Sascha Moser and Franziska Schubert (also known as Franzi Underdrive) from the The Inchtabokatables. Franziska left and Martin Rauer joined. After a while Dietmar Schmidt also joined them, and they formed Orgasm Death Gimmick.
The line-up was by then as follows:
Dietmar Schmidt; singer, trumpet player
Martin Rauer; bass
Sven Kruspe (Richard Kruspe); guitar
Sascha Moser; drums
The band played and recorded their tapes in a studio Sven built up with Paul Landers (Feeling B then, now guitarist of Rammstein). Sometimes it was too cold to play guitar in the studio, which led to a bag pipe part in the song Say Nothing. The studio was located in Berlin, at the Schönhauser Allee 5.
Due to a lack of money, ODG didn’t really have the chance to make the music they wanted to make. As Martin said: “We are waiting for the fairy who gives a million so we can make the music we want to make.”
ODG was mainly a live-band, they sent a few tapes to record companies but didn’t get a response and so they never recorded a CD.
ODG recorded just three tapes, all without a name.
