One of my favorite albums from the 90s. This is what I think of when I think of "Alt- Country" and "Indie Folk" and stuff like that. Terrific songwriting, recorded and performed in a spare but ballsy style. Every song here is enjoyable, but the first two, "Tonight's Decision (And Hereafter)" and the absolutely gorgeous, glorious "New Partner" are what really get me, followed by a couple songs later by the gentle, beautiful "We All, Us Three, Will Ride." Just a really great record. Will Oldham has done tons of good albums, but for me this one is among the top few, if not the very best.

The third album by Will Oldham, this time under the name Palace Music is a total 90's classic! Done with Steve Albini in Alabama still holds up with his more known later work as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy maybe this album is even better than all of them? With ten perfect tracks here, it's a bit raw and not as clear-up as that later work but that makes it even better, it was 1995 remember? The beautiful cover art, a drawing by Dianne Bellino has to one of his best images he ever used. His lyrics are just so great like in More Brother Rides "He asks that we allow the sex to make us unrecognizable", Viva Ultra "Are you jealous of the show we put on?", The Mountain Low "If I could fuck a mountain, Lord I would fuck a mountain", Tonight's Decision (And Hereafter) "When he comes for me I will fuck him, O I will waste him in my own way" and Old Jerusalem "Time when a room was closer than my friends and I can get some shooting done". For me nothing is better and I would argue it's his masterpiece!

We All, Us Three, Will Ride is my favourite Oldham song, though I've not heard very much of his stuff. Those of you that are big fans, is there an album of his with similar, acoustic only stuff? I know he's done pretty varied stuff, but that track is how I like him best :)
