Crybaby was released on 31 August 2017 as the lead single from Paloma Faith’s fourth studio album, “The Architect”.
Co-written by Lindy Robbins, Cleo Tighe and Starsmith and produced by the latter, the song is notably more upbeat and feel-good than Faith’s previous material. Described by Official Charts as a “slinky, soul-funk track”, it lyrically deals with how men often don’t fully deal with their feelings and conceal them in a bid to retain a “masculine” image.
In an interview with Music Week, Faith explained that the song “is basically just asking the question: what if men showed their feelings more? If they felt it was socially acceptable to be more in touch with their feelings, would there be as many problems in the world? I personally believe there would be fewer.
