good band but didn't care for them live. too many buildups with little to no payoff and I couldn't even hear their instruments besides drums and vocals during their set.

Surprising to hear you didn't like them live. I thought they were amazing when I saw them with Uada back in 2018. Wish they played the states more.

as I've gone to more shows at the same bar I saw them at, I realize the venue just has terrible sound in general.

new album is very solid and somehow feels tighter and more coherent (and of course is also longer which helps) as a full album than the previous two chapters.. almost certainly at least a top 5 album for me this year.

suns of perdition chapter 1 is top class stuff, especially phenomenal being the men of no man's land.. chapter 2 is also pretty good, less dissonant than chapter 1 and perhaps a bit too mgla-like in some songs for their own good.

Seeing Canadian mainstream media calling these guys Nazis is one of the funniest things to come out of 2022 so far

They showed up to the trucker protests back in January and twitter users freaked out because of their name

Hope they come back and play a show in Boston soon. One of the best live bands.

Nah, Canadian PF are fine - openly claim to be anti-fash (if in a roundabout way) https://www.reddit.com/r/rabm/comments/ilc0rs/what_about_panzerfaust/

It's the sound of stampeding rhinos shooting nukes out of their butts. Last year's album is their best yet.

Finally got to listen to the new album. It's good, but definitely not the top from last year, but it definitely feels like a grower. I'm just kind of surprised at the lack of vocals to be honest. With how pretty a lot of this album is, I'm surprised this got a kvlt pass from a lot of black metal fans.

at the same time, what the fuck is going on in the charts the #1 song is misspelt and the #2 song isn't even a song by them but the name of the 2019 record. all these plays seem to come from accounts with super odd names and pokemon in their avatar. which of you idiots is jerking off with their scripts?

the entire album is an apocalyptic tempest of unleashed wrath, but areopagitica in particular hits the spot HARD. i love how promethean fire sets the stage in a really clever way and then it's just hell broke loose. such a fucking intense record. i wouldn't even know what to compare with with. marduk meets deathspell omega maybe, but even that is a far stretch at best. absolutely my album of the year so far

Even though i must admit that i have largely been listening to old stuff the entire year. i've done some thinking and i don't really know what else would be on my end of the year list right now. i've liked the new winterfylleth quite a bit but that's about it - was it just a weak year or have i been looking in the wrong places?

i actually have a few records to add to that list: Afsky - Ofte Jeg Drommer Mig Dod as well as Sunken - Livslede both released very, very good records in 2020. interestingly enough, both danish black metal bands signed to vendetta records. also, the new record by Ulcerate fucks quite hard.

Haven't listened to Ulcerate in ages, never heard of the two danish bands, but I'll check them out tomorrow. Also the new UADA Album "Djinn" left a really good first impression.

all of you need to listen to the new album from selbst before handing out lists of year's best BM album..

New album is quite good. Wish they had chosen a different band name, this one really doesn't do them any justice.

The name lead to some odd implications the band might have something to do with NSBM. but it's hard not to argue that the claims are not without a foundation. They use imagery (In particular the Split with Balest) in a very agressive way, and the name admittedly raised some eyebrows for me, too. There is, however, an interview with their guitarist where he denies any claims of Panzerfaust being NSBM. You can find the link to the interview on their german Wikipedia page if you care enough, it's the last one in the links at the bottom.
