I can't agree with all the negative comments on this album. This is a quality album. Okay, it's poppy. Okay, Patrick's body of work isn't normally as pop as this album, but it is NOT poor. It's very possible you don't like this album or pop in general, but Lupercalia in amazing in its genre. Honestly, people, you can't dismiss that fact.

Great album from Patrick, The City has a happy sound but it is sad underneath. <3

Patrick Wolf's album Wind in the Wires, I personally found very experimental and creative. I also really like The Magic Position, which to begin with is very poppy and happy and than mellows into pleasent experimentalness. I've still to get Bacholar, but it looks and sounds amazing!!! (at least to my taste). Lupercalia, I listen to a few tracks and I found the lyrics limp and unimaginative. I think he's gotten too mainstream.- Others my argue otherwise.

Yes, I hate people who complain about this being a 'happy' album. If you dig deeper you'll realise it's not a fully happy album.

I don't get the whole "he has made a happy album, it sucks attitude". as if TMP wasn't happy. the only thing different are songs like the city and house, which took a while to grow on me too, but now I love them.mostly I start playing the second half of lupercalia, but the first couple of songs are excelllent for cycling to work") video the city I don't like, when I saw that, I also thought oh no, this is the end. come on people, listen to the falcons, now aint that just a fan-tas-tic song!

The lovliest thing in Patrick's music is that each album is sometimes suitable for different moods... I love the fact that his every single album is so different (together with each image connected to each album) that he could be split at least into 5 different artists, he has so much to give. But I prefer him in one piece of course and accept all music made by him <3 <33

And the album isn't forgettable, at least not to me. It flows perfectly showing us a lot of positive, beautiful feelings, without being cheap and cheesy. It talks about love without being banal, as 99% of love songs seem to be. It shows the joy of living, puts a smile on the face and fills the heart of a listener with indescribable energy. It makes the sun inside you shine. Not many artist manage to do such things, really. That's why this record means very much to me, and as I know, a lot of other people too. Let Patrick take your soul. He knows what he's doing.

Patrick has made a happy album, but for god's sake, that doesn't mean that this album is shitty. Sorry, but I personally will defend this record till my death. I can understand that someone can feel less connected with it than I feel etc, whatever, but saying that it is ' shitty ' is a big, big underestimate. Songs are not ' uninspired '. I feel it completely the other way round. They feel VERY inspired to me. Patrick sings about his feelings, his emotions, everything that comes from his heart. Isn't it the most important thing for an artist? You (fortunately) CAN'T stop Patrick from evolving and changing. And when he evolves and changes, his music does the same. I want sincere, genuine Patrick, not pretending Patrick who sings songs like Tristan or The Childcatcher whole his life only to keep his fans happy. The other thing: the lyrics aren't ' shitty '. They're more straightforward but it doesn't mean that they have no value. Bermondsey Street and The Days being obvious examples.

@astroholiday, well, I disagree. The lyrics aren't shitty, the songs aren't forgettable and the tracks of Lupercalia inspire me as well. This is just another side of Patrick, a side that the fans didn't know and now, some fans are going crazy about it, while it isn't even such a big deal. I love Lupercalia and I love Patrick's happiness all together. ;) Haters gonna hate, I don't even care that much.

LEAVE PATRICK ALONE OKAY HE'S HAPPY NOW FORGET ABOUT HOW FORGETTABLE THIS ALBUM IS FORGET ABOUT HOW HALF OF THE TRACKS FEEL UNINSPIRED AND FORGET ABOUT THE SHITTY LYRICS THE ONLY THING THAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT HE'S HAPPY NOW AND THE DARKNESS IN HIS LIFE IS NO MORE OK LET'S CELEBRATE.

I like melancholy too, ergo me liking the days and slowmotion, also love love love together and time of my life, the rest is rather fluffy indeed. still alot more pleasant to listen to (for me) than the bachelor, which is my least favorite record

I haven't expected that this album will be this good. It's fresh, beautiful and emotionally moving. Patrick is in brilliant vocal form. I'm a big fan of Lycanthropy and Wind In The Wires, but this album is awesome in its own way. Totally different from the others, but as inspiring as the previous ones. Also it makes a perfect wholeness - from the first to the last second this album catches. and surely Time Of My Life and The Days are one of his most beautiful songs ever...
